Since we opened the Media Production Studio in 2012, our video recording studio has resided in Budig 101 - upstairs from our office space. A relatively small space, it was outfitted with flexible backdrops to tape on-camera single speaker and interview segments. We also had an additional workstation space for audio recording up there.
To say the space has served its purpose well would be an understatement. Over the last 12 months, there have been 411 unique uses of Budig 101 - over 400 video or audio recordings, that have supported countless KU instructional and departmental projects
KU IT decided recently, though, that the space needed expansion and relocation. Expansion due to increased demand. And relocation because its current hidden-away location doesn’t lend itself to good promotion, or staff support.
So we’ve kicked out the training lab space in Budig 10A (sorry to those users who enjoyed using that space, but a new training lab is now open in 413 Summerfield). And we’re moving in. It’s a much larger space, and right next door to the rest of the MPS – we think this is going to enable us to help create even more (and better) content.
Here’s the empty room. I’ll post some “after” pics later this week.
We’re holding an Open House for the new studio at 1pm on August 17th, directly after CTE’s Teaching Summit. Feel free to stop by and see if we can polish up this joint.
As we’ve added a second, larger sound booth to our space, and now the adjoining studio – we think were in better position than ever before to assist your project.
