Add an Audio or Video Clip (Students)


Students also have the ability to share audio or video content in Blackboard via the Kaltura Media Mashup tool. Students can access this feature anywhere they have access to write content via the text editor, such as Assignments and Discussion Board forums. This is a good option to use if students are required to complete an audio or video assignment for a course.

  1. Access the Assignment in Blackboard.
  2. Click Write Submission.
  3. Click in the text box and enter any necessary text first. 
  4. In the text editor menu, select Mashups, then Kaltura Media
  5. Click on Add New (upper right) and select Media Upload.
  6. Click the Choose a File to Upload button and select the video file from your computer.
  7. Click Open.
  8. Your video will begin uploading. You must remain on this page until the upload is complete.
  9. Edit the TitleDescription and/or Tags. (Tip: Use a unique title or tag.)
  10. Click Save.
  11. Click Back to Browse and Embed.
  12. Find the media clip that you've uploaded. You can search by Title, Description or Tag. Click the Select button for that clip.
  13. Choose your display options (metadata and player skin) and click the Embed button.
  14. Your video will appear within the text editor. 
  15. Scroll down and click Submit to submit your assignment. 
  16. Your media will begin transcoding/processing on the server. Depending on its length and size, it might take 2-20 minutes to be available for playback.
  1. Access the Discussion Board forum in Blackboard.
  2. Click Create Thread. 
  3. Enter a Subject for the thread.
  4. Click in the text box and enter any necessary text first.  
  5. In the text editor menu, select Mashups, then Kaltura Media
  6. Click on Add New (upper right) and select Media Upload.
  7. Click the Choose a File to Upload button and select the video file from your computer.
  8. Click Open.
  9. Your video will begin uploading. You must remain on this page until the upload is complete.
  10. Edit the TitleDescription and/or Tags. (Tip: Use a unique title or tag.)
  11. Click Save.
  12. Click Back to Browse and Embed.
